Dirty Paws

I remember what I was thinking when I was sketching that nymphy face!

‘Of Monsters And Men’ was playing

Dirty Paws
Jumping up and down the floor
My head is an animal
And once there was an animal
It had a son that mowed the lawn
The son was an OK guy
They had a pet dragonfly
The dragonfly it ran away
But it came back with a story to say
Her dirty paws and furry coat
She ran down the forest slope
The forest of talking trees
They used to sing about the birds and the bees
The bees had declared a war
The sky wasn’t big enough for them all
The birds, they got help from below
From dirty paws and the creatures of snow
So for a while things were cold
They were scared down in their holes
The forest that once was green
Was colored black by those killing machines
But she and her furry friends
Took down the queen bee and her men
And that’s how the story goes
The story of the beast with those four dirty paws’
I loved that song! And still do!
The imagery always fills my head with forests, trees, creatures of snow and…dirty paws…
This morning, I needed that song! To feel …a little normal again!
Last night, I dreamt of a pet raccoon! Very strange! But the dream was very vivid! The pet raccoon wanted nothing to do with me! I had it on a leash…and I was riding my bike…Yes very strange indeed! The pet raccoon did not trust me. It wanted to escape.
It somehow, didn’t know what I was thinking! I wanted nothing more than to protect it, watch it eat some lettuce and be happy! ‘No kidding’ one would say! ‘It’s a raccoon! It’s not supposed to understand intentions or read thoughts!’!
I read somewhere, that raccoon babies, when in distress, can sound like human babies!! Why do I find that fact fascinating?! I have no idea!
Dirty paws. Raccoons. Horses. Birds. Dense forest. My brain is full of images…
I love them all…It’s going to be an interesting day…I hope.

I used to work as a graphic designer, until one day I was tragically and blissfully hit by two colliding meteors! One caused my falling in love with the world of coffee! And the other resulted in me falling out of love with the not so wonderful and nearly suffocating office culture! I left the glamour of the design world, and opened up my little café! Those were the best years of my life! I say ‘were’, because (wait! May be another time! But please do ask me if you ‘must’ know and can’t sleep tonight unless I tell you!) For the past three years, I have been living in a pyramid shape house in a middle of a green forest in the summer; a green forest buried underneath lots - I mean LOTS - of snow in the winter. I used to ‘think I still do ;)’ love the city! With its buzzing energy! I love to travel and seeing different food and coffee scenes...preferably alone! visiting ‘quirky and unusual’ places! I do not love visiting museums, hugely commercialized areas, malls and landmarks! I love old and full of heritage ‘anything’! I also love, to sit in a busy coffeeshop ‘reading quietly’ and not talking! Talking exhausts me most of the time! Watching the world unfold.. and thinking ...never does!

  1. Forgetting your writing for a moment … your art is quite spectacular, Kat. I mean spectacular. I could use a string of non-publishable phrases for emphasis, but will remain publishable … lol … sort of like ‘oh my ***k*ng g*d that is just f**#K(g awesome,’ that kind of thing. Draw on, Kat … draw on! Your writing, your art … f-ing beautiful. and ever true are the words, ‘as within, so without.’ As without, so within. The beauty we see on the outside in your words and your art, are reflections of the beauty within. it can be no other way.

    1. Oh wow Michael! Do I deserve all of this? :))) I am so humbled! I swear I think I’m going to have your words laminated haha and every single time I start doubting..I’d be like ‘let’s pull those ego boosters out’ then I’ll never have another doubting moment IN MY LIFE! 🙂

  4. Kat, I read your entries from September 2016. There were two, I think. I felt a sadness in your words. A deep sadness. Getting what you wanted — quiet — and wondering why had you done this, perhaps? Some part of you. Perhaps it wasn’t for you, what a similar experience of moving was for me 11 years ago: ‘My god why did I do this?’

I thank you for opening yourself here, to us. For taking the chance to set yourself out here to us, on screens, your words, your art, your heart, mind. all of you. Do we see you? Do we want to see you? Do we want to see ourselves in what you write? Does the sadness you feel at times, ring true in our hearts, too? And your joy and playfulness and laughter — you excitement over it all — do we see that, too? Do we understand any of it, parts of it, a bit, a lot?

Writing ourselves out there, for whoever might see us, is … strange. Strangers seeing us. But not strangers. it is a nakedness of its own. A removal of bits and pieces of shields and walls and clothing we’ve put on our spirits. We take this piece off, then this — how did that go? Did people laugh? Does it matter? I mean really does it matter? We just are who we are, in the end. and all along the way.

I love to watch how you fly, where you fly, where you wander, what touches you, what you touch and are in awe of. What you hear, see, sense. All of it. It’s a wonder to read your words.

Thank you for flying free here.

Or maybe I’m just a blabber-writer! lol … I can’t stop blabbing when I put my fingers on the keyboard! lol …

  5. ‘Writing ourselves out there’! I’d love to borrow that one Michael!

Thank you for watching me fly.

You’re not a ‘blabber writer’! I like what you write! Thank you.
